Resume Writing

Tips that make recruiters keep reading

Eight quick habits that turn an average resume into one that gets shortlisted.

01

Lead with a specific summary

Not "results-driven professional." Use your role, years, focus, and one metric. That's the strongest 40 words on your resume.

02

Show outcomes, not duties

"Reduced churn by 12%" beats "Responsible for retention." Every bullet should describe what changed because of you.

03

Add numbers to your top three bullets

Percentages, dollar amounts, time saved, users reached. Numbers make claims credible without sounding like bragging.

04

Start each bullet with a strong verb

  • Led, shipped, designed, built
  • Reduced, increased, improved, streamlined
  • Presented, negotiated, partnered, mentored

05

Keep it to one page (unless senior)

Under ten years of experience, one page. Two pages only if every line earns its space and adds something new.

06

Use standard section headings

  • Experience
  • Education
  • Skills
  • Certifications

07

Proofread out loud

Read every line aloud. Print it. Read it backwards. Ask a friend. A single typo can cost you an interview.
